The invention relates to a roof element, namely a reinforced-concrete prefabricated ceiling panel for flat-roofed buildings, having an essentially H-shaped cross-section such that the lower ends of the vertical H-leg rest on at least two building walls. In order that it is easy to mount, while having high static loadability and maintaining a constant degree of sealing, said roof element is provided, in the region of its vertical H-legs, with retaining devices for connecting, in particular bracing, ceiling panels lying one next to the other. Consequently, it is achieved that, even in the case of extreme thermal loadings, the ceiling panels, once they have been brought into their desired position, are mutually fixed such that gaping of the parting joint is not to be feared. Any expansion and contraction thrusts, in the horizontal direction, which may occur will not be able to affect the abutment region of the ceiling panels because the panels form a unit which is firmly braced together. <IMAGE>
