The object is to convert sea (ocean) waves into mechanical energy. A ring floating on the water surface is used for this purpose. Located on said ring are deflecting blades which have an angle of attack and can be bent elastically about the vertical axis. In the event of a wave motion departing radially, the elastic blades have a blocking action, and in the event of an inwardly directed motion, said blades are open and impart a twist to the surface water. Located in the centre of the ring is a water turbine (hydroturbine), e.g. a Francis type, which converts the eddying flow into mechanical energy. <IMAGE>
