In an improved chair, two rods (1) of equal length are connected pivotably to one another at their centres and form an X-shaped frame, the ends of the rods of adjacent X-shaped frames being pivotably connected to one another by lower and upper fittings (3, 3') in order thus to form a four-sided frame (A). Each X-frame forms one side of the four-sided frame (A), a multiplicity of four-sided frames (A) being connected to one another side by side in a row in order to form a bar frame. A foldable seat is attached to the upper side of the bar frame. A seat of this type is of simple construction and can be collapsed in a simple manner into a small space. <IMAGE>
