<p>The device comprises sensors, each including an emitting coil and a receiving coil placed opposite each other on both sides of the detecting zone so that any perturbation of the magnetic field due to a firearm is transformed into a voltage variation. Each coil is formed by a series of turns wound in a plane. Each coil is alternately used as emitter and receiver so that the low sensitivity zones near the emitting coil are avoided. By combining the signals from the receiving coils, the sensitivity of this device is independent of the location of the firearm in the detecting zone. By using three such sensors, the sensitivity of the detector becomes independent of the orientation of the firearm.</p> |
