Friction false twister for the false twisting of synthetic yarns in texturing machines has a moved surface and a rotating disc which is inclined in the direction of the moved surface by a press-down device for the purpose of clamping the yarn. For this, the disc has a rigid hub and a friction ring which is concentric with the latter and which is connected flexurally to the hub. A plurality of possibilities for a flexural connection of this type are shown.
