An item of furniture is to be dismountable in such a way that it can firstly be used, for example, as a changing table and, after being dismantled and fitted together in a different composition can be used as a wall-mounted shelf unit or the like. Provided for this purpose are at least two narrow boards (6, 7) and a wide board (5) which all have the same length (L) and attachment devices (11-15) at least on opposite end faces (8, 9, 10), and two frames (1, 2) with bores (3, 4) for receiving connecting elements (14, 15). The changing table is fitted and screwed together, in that the wide and the narrow boards are attached between the frames lying one after the other in one plane. Such a changing table can then be placed on a chest of drawers or other item of furniture. In this case, it is expedient for the attachment devices (11-13, 15) at the end faces (8, 9, 10) of the boards (5-7) to consist of at least two blind bores (11-13) and for the connecting elements (14, 15) for attaching the boards (5-7) to the frames (1, 2) to be screws (14) and/or dowels (15). <IMAGE>
