PURPOSE:To increase both the luminance and the luminous efficiency of a displayer by fixing a phosphor over an anodic base plate by means of an organic binder, subjecting the plate coated with the phosphor to preliminary sintering carried out in an oxidizing atmosphere, and removing the said binder completely by sintering the plate coated with the phosphor in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:In fixing a phosphor 6 on anodic conductors 5 provided on an insulating anodic base plate 1 made of glass or a ceramic member, a sulfide system or trisulfide system phosphor is used as the phosphor 6, the phosphor 6 is added with an organic binder consisting of a synthetic resin such as ethylcellulose to make a pasty phosphor, and the pasty phosphor is applied to given anodic conductors 5 according to a given pattern. Next, the anodic base plate 1 coated with the phosphor 6 containing the above binder is preliminarily sintered at a temperature at which the phosphor 6 doesn't undergo any oxidation decomposition, for example, at below 300-400 deg.C in an oxidizing atmosphere so as to make the organic binder to be removed by a combustion evaporation. After that, the organic binder is completely removed by thermal decomposition, without making the phosphor 6 to undergo any oxidation decomposition, by sintering the plate 1 coated with the phosphor 6 at 400-550 deg.C. |
