<p>Fixings such as buttons, studs, eyelets, etc., composed of two interlocking parts, partic. of plastic material are attached to a fabric, leather, etc. by an appts. having a presser foot to hold the fabric, a piercing tool to make a hole, devices for feeding and positioning the interlocking parts in relation to the hole and pressing them together, and an applicator for solvent or adhesive whereby the two parts are joined permanently together. The appts. may be operated manually, or by an automatic cam-operated mechanism. Appts. is simple, compact and inexpensive in comparison to devices using heat or ultrasonics to weld or rivet the fixing in position.</p> |
