PURPOSE:To enhance the liquid-leakage resistance of a sealed alkaline battery by coating the sealing part of the battery with a specified sealing agent, which is prepared by adding rubbers to asphalt. CONSTITUTION:The sealing part of an alkaline battery is formed by interposing a sealing gasket between the positive and the negative cans of the battery. A sealing agent is applied on the sealing parts of the negative can and the sealing gasket, as well as on the inner surface of the sealing gasket. As the above sealing agent, a mixture prepared by mixing a mixture, which is made up of asphalt and at least one compound chosen from among butadiene rubber, styrene rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, styrene-butadiene-styrene rubber and the like, with an epoxy resin and a hardener for the above epoxy resin. Here, the ratio of the above rubber to asphalt is preferred to be 1-80wt%. |
