PURPOSE:To utilize the heat retained by a continuously cast ingot effectively by conveying said ingot between the outlet side of a continuous casting machine and a heating furnace while imsulating the heat thereof with a granular heat insulating material and recovering and reusing the heat insulating material. CONSTITUTION:An ingot 3 cast with a continuous casting machine is coated with a granular heat insulating material 10 from a laminating device 7. The ingot placed with the material 10 in this way is conveyed on a roller table 4, and before it is charged into a heating furnace 5, the material 10 on the ingot 3 is removed with a heat insulating material removing device 8. The removed material 10 is again returned to the device 7 via a recovering and conveying device 9, and is reused. |
