NEW MATERIAL:Antibiotic dermanin having the following physical and chemical properties. A neutral colorless oily substance. [alpha]D<25>=-17.3 deg. (C=2.3, CHCl3). Molecular formula; C8H9NO3(measured by high resolving power mass spectrometry of trimethylsilyl derivative). Molecular weight; 167(measured by GC-MS method of the above-mentioned derivative. Soluble in chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetone, etc., slightly soluble in n-hexane, water. Positive in iodine, KMnO4, sulfuric acid. USE:An antibacterial agent against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, e.g., Staphylococcus aureus, etc. PROCESS:For example, a strain, e.g., Trichoderma harzianum SANK 12680 strain (FERM-P 5769), belonging to the genus Trichoderma, is subjected to shaking culture preferably in a liquid medium at about 24 deg.C for 60-70hr. |
