<p>PURPOSE:To raise a correct read rate, by constituting so that a character pattern having standard character line width can be supplied to a recognizing circuit at all times. CONSTITUTION:A quantizing circuit 1 converts a slip image to a multilevel quantized pattern signal by digitizing an analog signal supplied from a scanner. A pattern memory 2 holds in order this multilevel quantized pattern signal, and stores the slip image temporarily as a multilevel quantized pattern. Subsequently, a character line width detecting circuit 3 cuts 1 character each of a character pattern constituted of a dot which is below a constant level in the storage slip image, and detects its character line width. A register 4 stores temporarily the character line width calculated by the circuit 3, a recognizing circuit 5 recognizes the cut character pattern, and outputs its answer.</p> |
