Flowers, leaves and other vegetation can be preserved in their fresh state for use as ornaments. The article is placed in the hollow space between two walls of a suitable receptacle with at least one of the walls being transparent. The object is immersed in a stabilising fluid such as glucose which has suitable optical and reactive properties. The stabilising fluid may be either pure glucose or a mixture of compatible additives and may be in a liquid, solid or paste-like state. The transparent wall has a gelatine coating whilst the opposite wall has a layer of absorbent material such as blotting paper which is impregnated with adhesive in order to retain the object. The process includes a heating phase which involves heating the glucose before pouring it into the receptacle.
|
