<p>An additive to a steel casting mould, comprises metal oxides such as SiO2, CaO, Al2O3, N2O, K2O, etc and fluorides, such as CaF2, AlF3, NaF etc. of grain size 10-150 mesh contg. carbonaceous powders on their surface using a binder. The powdery mother matl. having liquid hydrocarbon on its surface is carbonised to secure the residual carbon on the surface. Cast steel free from flows are obtd. enabling uniform slag formation on their surfaces.</p> |
