Joint between tilting driving cabin and engine compartment - includes channel forming labyrinth seal for noise reduction at hinge point

To obtain access to the engine compartment of a goods vehicle, the driver's cabin is tilted backwards. The pivot point (3) is formed above an inverted U section member (4) attached to the bottom edge of the wall (1) of the cabin. Into the open mouth of the U member is fitted the edge (5) of the housing (2) for the engine, forming a labyrinth seal. This reduces noise transmission without obstructing the tilting action. A flexible sealing strip can also be attached to the inside face of the edge (5) of the engine housing, in an alternative design. This design has this edge bent over and attached to cabin wall instead of using the open channel.
