<p>The parent patent describes a safety valve in which the valve cone is seated in a conical seating and flexible sealing ring is forced by the fluid pressure against the conical face of the valve until actual lift-off occurs under the limiting pressure. In the patent of addition, this flexible sealing ring is backed up by a supporting flange or rim on the side towards the cone. This supporting flange pref. has an angle corresponding to the cone angle. This arrangement ensures backing to the flexible sealing ring, preventing it from flowing or distorting under high pressure. The flexible sealing ring may be of metal, or of plastics, esp. PTFE.</p> |
