[Also in Division G4] In a medical screening system (see Division G4) a master station includes a computer and a scanner which addresses in a selected sequence each of a number of remote test stations which obtain selected medical data from a patient, each test station including a means for recognizing its unique address, a store for the medical data, means for encoding the data to a form suitable for the computer, and a device for transmitting the encoded data to the computer. The remote stations are arranged to transmit their own address if they have no data when called and the address is verified in the master station in order to detect malfunctions. Each remote station includes a punched card reader which accepts a card bearing the patient's identification number. The test stations may perform medical tests, e.g. hearing, vision, breathing, physique, electrocardiogram, and blood tests, the data from which is automatically processed by the computer.</p> |
