Reducing fuel consumption in thermal or nuclear power stations - where existing generator is used to drive very large generator to increase power output

The existing power station plant is extended by adding an electricity generator with ca. five times the capacity of the previous generator; and the larger generator is driven by an electric motor fed with power from the original plant. The result is a substantial increase in power output for a given amt. of fuel, or a smaller amt. of fuel can be used than hitherto for creating a given amt. of energy; in the latter case, a redn. in the amt. of waste prods. is achieved.
