PURPOSE:To prevent the contamination of ground water or soil by eliminating the outflow of a heavy metal from an industrial waste treatment area, by using a heavy metal adsorbent prepared by using sandy coral sand from which a containing substance such as salt was removed by washing. CONSTITUTION:A heavy metal adsorbent is prepared from sandy coral sand from which a containing substance such as salt is removed by washing and which is activated by heating in an argon or nitrogen gaseous atmosphere or natural drying. The particle size of coral sand is set to 60 mesh or less and activation temp. is pref. 250-350 deg.C. This heavy metal adsorbent is embedded in the bottom part of the hole bored in an industrial waste treatment area in a layered form and industrial waste ashed by heat-treatment is discarded on the adsorbent layer and, further, said adsorbent is layer thereon in a layered form. Thereafter, this process is repeated to make it possible to attain the effective utilization of the industrial waste treatment area. |
