The rapid brake accelerator is intended for an indirectly operating pneumatic brake system of a rail vehicle. It comprises a piston with the main air line pressure on one side and moved to open a vent valve under the action of throttled pressure in a chamber on the other side. The connection from the main line to the throttle contains a spring-loaded valve on which the main line pressure acts in the closing direction. The valve is opened by a spring-loaded piston against action of main line pressure in a chamber, the spring being tensioned to exceed the action of this pressure by a pre-determined amt.
