A process for the coloration of a hydroxy substituted organic polymeric substrate by heating it to at least 93 DEG C. with a water-soluble dyestuff containing one or more groups of the formula: <IMAGE> WHERE M is a metal N IS 0 OR 1 Q IS 0 OR 1 M IS 0, 1 OR 2 R = 1 OR 2 T = 0 OR 1 AND R+T IS NOT GREATER THAN 2 AND WHEN N = 1, M+T+R+Q IS NOT GREATER THAN 3, IN THE PRESENCE OF A CARBODIIMIDE AND A SALT OR A VOLATILE AMINE. |
