The device for thawing a door lock, or other frozen objects in freezing weather, is in small pocket torch form. It has two battery cells and a front extensible heat-conductive metal probe or tongue in the middle of the plastics or metal case (1). This tongue is switched on by the switch (4) and electrically heated by the battery (5), to heat the lock. The case can also be fitted with a glow-lamp (7) to throw light on the operation. The whole can also be combined with a key ring. This is effective in extreme temperatures, and more reliable and easily handled than de-icing spray containers.
