<p>PURPOSE:To control the speed of a pneumatic drive cylinder continuously and simply by connecting both fluid chambers located within a brake cylinder together through an ER fluid control valve. CONSTITUTION:A brake cylinder 2 is placed side by side with a pneumatic drive cylinder 1, and both fluid chambers 8, 9 which are parted from each other by the piston 4 of the brake cylinder 2 are connected together through an ER fluid control valve 10 filled with ER fluid whose viscosity is changed in proportion to the area of an electric field. Consequently, as the flow resistance of the fluid which flows within a connecting tube 11 can be changed by changing the area of the electric field, the speed of the pneumatic drive cylinder 1 can be controlled by an electric signal simply and continuously.</p> |
