Device for finely centring the mandrel of a coating tool used in the cable industry, esp. for mfr. of thin conductor insulations, where the mandrel has an axial bore for receiving and guiding the conductor wire to the coated and is radially adjustable, is claimed. The mandrel is firmly clamped at that side opposite the (extruder) nozzle and has an axial bore adapted to receive a sleeve which is fitted with that end nearst the mandrel and provided with a ring which bears against the inner wall of the bore. That sleeve protrudes beyond the mandrel at that end remote from the nozzle and has an outer collar which radially supported free from play. This collar has surfaces against which pressure screws can be tightened. Used in mfr. of electric cables having uniform wall thickness. Fine and accurate centring of the conductor(s) is simplified at lower cost than hitherto.
