PURPOSE:To enable the immediate and accurate measurement of a water content without touching a dehydrated cake directly by hands by a method wherein a measured value of a stress detected when a pressure-sensitive element of a load cell is pressed into the cake by a prescribed depth is correlated with the water content of the cake. CONSTITUTION:A definite correlationship is found between the press-in resistance of a pressure-sensitive element of a load cell detected when said pressure-sensitive element is pressed by a prescribed depth into a cake and the water content of the cake. When a motor 24 is made to rotate normally and thereby a movable frame 23 is lowered, first a shutter 37 breaks into a cake 20 proceeding on a support table 21 and interrupts the proceeding temporarily. Next, when the pressure-sensitive element 29 of the load cell 28 touches the surface of the cake 20, the motor 24 is stopped by an action of a microswitch 34. When the motor 31 makes one rotation thereafter, the load cell 28 makes one vertical reciprocating operation by the action of a cam 33, the pressure-sensitive element 29 is thereby pressed into the cake 20, and a load at that time is detected by the load cell 28. A measured value thus obtained is converted into the water content of the cake by using the correlationship stated above. |
