<p>The cheese storage system consists of a series of rectangular frames, each having roughly the dimensions of the conventional storage plank. The floor of the frame consists of (plastics) mesh and the vertical cross-section of the floor is the same shape and diameter as the cheeses being stored. The mesh has 4-100 (pref. 9-64) openings per cm.2. The short sides of the frames are fitted with pins which enable the frames to be mounted in a cheese train. The train of frames moves to the right and at the end passees over a roll. A short lever rigidly attached to the short side of the frame then causes the frame to tilt, rolling the cheeses out. The system enables round cheeses to be stored and handled without change of shape occurring and, since the storage surface is of mesh, there is no need to turn the cheeses, which are adequately ventilated.</p> |
