1510511 Securing discs on Shafts SYCOR Inc 8 May 1975 [21 June 1974] 19432/75 Heading F2U A disc 40 is centred and then clamped on a hub 12, the centring being by elements 22 which are movable relative to the hub axis to centre the disc 40 before a clamping member 24 clamps the disc 40 against a surface 38 of the hub. In the embodiment shown the elements 22 are separate and are biased by a resilient ring 56 to put their outer surfaces 49b on a circumference smaller than that of a central aperture 60 of the disc 40. When the clamping member 24 is moved towards the hub 12 tapered surfaces 62, 66 engage to move the elements 22 radially outwards to centre the disc 60. The elements 22 may be of nylon and the outer portion of each element 22, may resiliently engage the disc 60. The elements 22 mybe projections on a member formed in one piece (Fig. 5, not shown). As shown in Fig. 2 the clamping member 24 is urged resiliently by a spring 36 through a thrust bearing and the disc 40 is within a disc receiver 26. The disc 40 may be a magnetic recording disc. |
