<p>The alloy consists of a continuous phase of Pb in which a eutectic Cd-Sn phase is dispersed, the min. amt of Cd and Sn being 0.4 wt. % of the alloy in each case. The amt. of Cd should be sufficient so that free Cd is dispersed in the Pb. The pref. amts. of Cd and Sn are 0.4-1.4 wt. % in each case, esp. in equal amts of 0.6-0.8 wt. % each. Used for the terminals, cell-connectors and grid connecting strips in lead-acid accumulators, esp. the multi-grid, multi-cell type. Avoids the loss of Ca when assembling the grid, and terminal networks of batteries by soldering, i.e. lead-burning, such batteries need no re-filling with water.</p> |
