1504613 Liquid azo dyestuffs PRODUITS CHIMIQUES UGINE KUHLMANN 23 May 1975 [28 June 1974] 22990/75 Heading C4P Novel liquid dyestuffs of the formula (wherein y is zero or I and x and z are each whole numbers such that x + y + z = 5 to 17, A is phenyl or naphthyl optionally substituted by at least one C 1- 2 alkyl or alkoxy group and B is phenylene or naphthylene optionally similarly substituted, and n is zero or 1) are prepared by coupling the diazo derivative of an amine of the formula with an appropriately N-substituted 2-aminonaphthalene. Coupling may be effected in the presence of an organic solvent, e.g. xylene, and the resulting mixture of solvent and dyestuff separated from the aqueous phase because the novel dyestuffs are miscible with organic solvents. In the coupling reaction mixtures of diazo derivatives and mixtures of coupling components may be used. The dyestuffs may be used for colouring hydrocarbons, especially petroleum products, inks, waxes, fats and plastics materials in shades from orange to violet.
