1501044 Aircraft thrust reversers BOEING CO 27 Feb 1976 [27 March 1975] 07879/76 Heading B7G In an aircraft having a jet engine 2 located within the aft portion of the fuselage, the sole thrust-reverser arrangement of the engine comprises a duct 8 which only directs the jet exhaust downwardly and forwardly. The exhaust is selectively proportional between the duct 8 and a rearward-discharge duct 7 by means of deflector doors 10, 12. The doors are operated conjointly by an electric motor 16 or an hydraulic jack (not shown). Alternatively, a mechanism (not shown) may be provided to displace the leading edges of the doors out from behind shoulders 14 and 17, the doors being then swung outwardly by the jet exhaust gas against the action of a return spring. A noise-suppressing lining 18, 20 is provided on the bottom and opposite upright sides of the duct 7. |
