<p>The reel automatically winds on a vehicle safety belt (1). The winding roller (4), inside the reel casing, is spring loaded, the belt passing under a guide roller (11). A separate roller (8) is fitted inside the reel casing, storing a flexible leaf spring (2) around it. As the belt is wound on, this auxiliary spring winds on with it, forming a common coil (6) with the belt. The spring winds on against its natural curvature and, when the belt is pulled out for use, the force required is balanced. The free end of the leaf spring contacts a guide (8') and winds back onto its roller.</p> |
