An arrangement for pointwise monitoring of brake characteristics of tracked vehicles with inductive control systems is designed to reduce the number of track magnets and to replace the switching units installed along the track by a central weather protected switching installation. One track magnet per monitor point is used. All magnets are controlled from the central unit and each may operate as a vehicle detector and a control magnet. A relay (A) controlled from the central unit via its inputs (SL) opens a contact (a) for detection mode and closes it for control mode. A passing vehicle induces a voltage in the coil (L) which is passed to the central unit via a rectifier (GL) and measurement connections (ML).
