1481804 Cam-shafts HONDA GIKEN KOGYO KK 30 July 1974 [31 July 1973] 33639/74 Heading F2U [Also in Divisions B3 and F1] A cam-shaft for an I.C. engine having at least one main combustion chamber with inlet and exhaust valves and an auxiliary combustion chamber with an intake valve, has three axially spaced integrally formed cam lobes for actuating the valves, the radial dimension of the middle cam lobe being at least as great as the radial dimension of one or the other of the outer cam lobes at every angular position of the cam-shaft. The cam lobes 2 and 3 located each side of a middle cam lobe 4 are integrally formed on the cam-shaft 1. The radial dimensions of the middle cam lobe 4 are larger at every angular position of the shaft than the corresponding radial dimensions of the adjacent cam lobe 2. This arrangement allows relatively wide grinding wheels 12, 13 to be used in manufacture. |
