[Also in Division C3] An enzyme composition having proteolytic and collagenase activity (see Division C3) has medical applications for debridement of necrotic and moribund tissue. Examples are given of ointments containing 99.5% petrolatum and 0.5% of enzyme, and 98.5% petrolatum, 1 % of a stneptomycin/penicillin mixture and 0.5% of enzyme. The enzyme may also be injected as a 0.2 to 5% solution in physiological saline. |
