PURPOSE: A disc array system and its implementing method are provided to make each hard disc drive, included in the disc array system, have a disc array control function. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a control signal line(62), a master disc drive(50), and plural slave disc drives(52, 54, 56). The control signal line(62) is connected in parallel to the slave disc drives(52, 54, 56) for controlling a disc array. The master disc drive(50) calculates an identifier of a requested disc drive, and turns an identifier signal and a disc array control right over to a corresponding disc drive. The slave disc drives(52, 54, 56) transmit data to a host system based on the identifier signal and the disc array control right, and notify the master disc drive(50) of the data transmission.
