<p>This invention relates to an improved container which may be easily opened and closed and which may be used as a transparent merchandise container. It has a bottom member and an identical removable top member which are interlocked by closure mechanisms provided on each side of the container. Each of the closure mechanisms has a number of upper tab members which extend downwardly to resiliently engage a lower horizontal lip on the bottom member and a number of lower tab members which extend upwardly to resiliently engage an upper horizontal lip on the top member. In the closed position, the upper and lower tab members of each closure mechanism are located horizontally adjacent in alternating positions along the closure mechanism. The container may be manually opened by releasing one of the closure mechanisms by "pinching" the upper and lower tab members between the thumb and forefinger of one hand and pivoting the top member about the other closure mechanism until it may be removed. This may also be done mechanically. The container also provides improved features for nesting of the empty members during shipping to reduce scratching of the top, bottom and side surfaces, as well as for stacking or hanging of the containers on display. The top and bottom members are injection molded from a suitable plastic material using a single form and thus the improved container may be manufactured with great economy.</p> |
