The workpiece is engaged at spaced position along an edge by clamps slidably mounted on an endless rail, and the clamps are moved along the rail pref. by contact with a conveyor to advance the workpiece to a stitching position. At the end of the rail the clamps are pref. automatically released, and the work-piece passes between upper and lower conveyor belts which advance it past a stitching head. The device is used in assembly clothes, and allows work-pieces to be automatically and continuously advanced to the stitching position in a flat state with straight edges. |
