A cataphoretic electrodeposition process for forming a fiber polyetherimide composite using a stable emulsion comprising a polyetherimide resin, neutralization agent, cosolvent, solvent, ring opening agent, and water. The fibers and an anode are placed in the emulsion, a current is applied, and the polyetherimide coats the fibers.
