An apparatus for preventing weeds from growing to effectively lifting and letting down a weed control mat comprises: at least two poles fixed on the ground and extended upwards from the ground; a shaft member fixed on the poles by being coupled and crossed with the poles and spaced by a predetermined distance from the ground so as to be placed parallel to the ground; a plurality of lifting units including lifting members which are coupled with the shaft member to be rotated so as to vertically ascend or descend; and a weed control mat covering the lifting units and the ground and ascending or descending depending on the ascent or descent of the lifting units; and a switch connected to the lifting units so as to lift or let down the same. Therefore, the apparatus for preventing weeds from growing can increase work efficiency.
