The invention relates to a coupling device of an optical fibre to a light-emitting diode, the diode being arranged on a first flat electrode and connected via a bonding wire to a second flat electrode which is insulated from the first electrode. According to the invention, a coupling part having two parallel end faces has on the first end face a first central opening for accommodating the optical fibre, on the second end face a cutout for accommodating the first and second electrode and a second, central opening which is separate from the first opening and connects the cutout and the first opening and tapers off in the direction of the cutout, the cutout being constructed in such a manner that the first and second electrode bears on the bottom of this cutout in a flat manner and the diode is arranged centrally inside the second opening. As a result, it is possible to couple the diode directly and in a simple and low-loss manner to an optical fibre. The coupling device according to the invention permits a high operating temperature and has a high resistance to temperature cycles, as a result of which it can be used for bus systems in motor vehicles.
