A method is described for setting a leak indication gap between the surface of a wall, for example a concrete surface, and lining panels anchored thereon. To this end, an intermediate layer, which is removed after fastening the lining panel to the wall to form the leak indication gap, is applied on the rear side of the lining panel. Alternatively, a double panel can also be provided, the two panels of which are held at a well-defined distance by means of suitable spacers.
