<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball which has an improved carry, and also has excellent durability to cracking on repeated impact and excellent scuff resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The golf ball includes a core, an intermediate layer encasing the core, and a cover which encases the intermediate layer and has many dimples formed on the surface. The core is formed primarily of a rubber material, and the intermediate layer and the cover are formed primarily of like or unlike resin materials. A hardness gradually increases from the center of the core to the surface of the core, a hardness difference in the JIS-C hardness between the core center and the core surface is at least 15, and when letting (I) be the average value of cross-sectional hardnesses at a position about 15 mm from the core center and at the core center and letting (II) be the cross-sectional hardness at a position about 7.5 mm from the core center, the hardness difference (I)-(II) in the JIS-C hardness is within ±2. Also, the hardnesses of the intermediate layer and the cover satisfy the condition in which the cover hardness is larger than the intermediate layer hardness.
