PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel sulfur-containing compound useful as a positive electrode active material, which can substantially improve charge/discharge capacity and cycle characteristics of a lithium ion secondary battery while using a material that can be easily obtained and is inexpensive.SOLUTION: A sulfur-containing compound can be obtained by subjecting sulfur and a raw material compound that contains an aromatic ring site (A) and a chain hydrocarbon site (B) to heat treatment in a non-oxidation atmosphere.SELECTED DRAWING: None
