PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly efficiently and accurately steam-heat a heating object such as foods by sophisticating the temperature control of steam in a heating space while reducing the escape of the steam from the heating space. SOLUTION: In this steam heating device having the heating space 2 disposed with an inlet and outlet for carrying in/out a heating object 4 and a steam supply means 15 having an intended volume and a steam ejection outlet, and a conveyance means 5 for conveying the heating object on a prescribed route in the heating space, a useless space connected to the heating space is eliminated as much as possible; a useless space is eliminated for forming the heating space with the shape and volume indispensable and necessary minimal for the heating of the heating object; the steam is vertically raised through a conveyance means by a space reducing body to suppress the flowing by the escape of the steam, and the steam is brought into direct contact with the heating object to heat it, thus forming the highly efficient heating space.
