The fuel cell (12) has an orifice (28) for the evacuation of residual gases, comprising air and water vapor which are directed into an evacuation conduit (30, 36). A compressor (32) and (38) liquefies the water vapor, enabling recovery of water to be used again for humidification in the fuel cell. The electricity producing unit (10) for installation on board a vehicle comprises a fuel cell (12) with at least one orifice (28) for the evacuation of residual gases, comprising air and water vapor. These are directed into an evacuation conduit (30, 36) in which there is a condenser (38) which liquefies the water vapor. The liquid water which is collected is taken from the evacuation conduit to a liquid water circuit (62). A compressor (32) is inserted into the evacuation conduit (30) upstream of the condenser. The compressor compresses the residual gas such that the dew point of the water vapor becomes greater than the temperature of the condenser. A turbine (34) in the evacuation conduit may be used to drive the compressor. |
