1391307 Contact heat exchangers CARL MUNTERS AB 18 July 1972 [20 July 1971] 33488/72 Heading F4K [Also in Division B1] Packing for air/water contact apparatus such as a cooling tower or an air scrubber comprises vertically extending, thin corrugated sheets of plastics material (e.g. 0À005 to 0À025 inch thick), the corrugations of each sheet being inclined to the vertical with the corrugations of adjacent sheets oppsitely inclined, and the upper and lower edges of each sheet being reinforced by one or more relatively narrow strips 14 of the sheet produced by folding-over the sheet edges (Figs. 3, 4). The sheets may be secured together at the corrugation crossing points by an adhesive, and alternate sheets may be displaced in the plane of the sheet relative to adjacent sheets (Fig. 6). The lower edges of the sheets may be cut in a plane at an angle to the plane of the sheet to form drainage points (16, Fig. 2). Suitable plastics materials suggested are polyethylene, polystyrene, polyamine, polycarbonate, and P.V.C. |
