PURPOSE:To improve the operating property of switchover by providing a movable arm and a fixed arm which are connected by a connecting spring for switching operation, and bringing these arms directly into contact with each other when said movable arm is idly rotating, in the captioned device in which a shifter is engaged with one of advancing and backing gears by means of the rotation of a shift drum. CONSTITUTION:The switching gear device 13 of an advancing/backing switchover device has an output shaft 16 on which a backing gear 16a which is meshed with the output gear, etc. of a main transmission, and high and low speed advancing gears 16b, 16c are installed. High and low speed and advancing/backing switching shifters 18, 19 are provided in between the gears 16a-16c and these shifters 18, 19 are selectively engaged with the gears 16a-16c by means of the rotation of a shift drum 23. In this case, a movable arm 30 is rotatably installed, while a fixed arm 29 is fixed, to the switching shaft part 23a of the shift drum 23. And, a connecting spring 31 which transmits the rotation of the movable arm 30 to the fixed arm 29 through an elastic force, and a contact member which is brought into contact with the fixed arm 29 when the movable arm 30 is idly rotating, are provided on the switching shaft part 23a.
