PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the leakage of data recorded on an optical disk when the unnecessary optical disk is discarded by using a compact data destroying device of a simple constitution for damaging the data area of the optical disk to prevent the read of the recorded data. SOLUTION: A pair of legs 2, 2 are connected to each other at one end 22 so that the legs are opened at one end 21, a chucking part 3 is formed on the opening surface of one end 21 to chuck a part near the center hole 16 of the optical disk 1 so as to rotate, and a data destroying part 4 is disposed inside one body part 24 of the leg 2 to damage the data area of the optical disk 1.
