<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily detect an abnormality and inform an occupant of it by detecting actual energy outputted from a predetermined element (engine, motor, torque converter, clutch, transmission, final speed reduction gear, or the like), and by performing abnormal diagnosis of the element, in an automobile power train. <P>SOLUTION: This diagnosing device comprises an input section for inputting a signal of a torque sensor 7 for detecting an output torque of the element, and an output parameter determining section for determining an output parameter of the element based on the signal from the input section. The diagnosing device performs the abnormal diagnosis of the element according to the output parameter determined in the output parameter determining section.
