The common aerial and cable television system has each of its receivers provided with a selection switch. This switch enables m of the n programmes offerred to be selected (where m n 2m). Several subscribers are grouped into groups. Each group has a changeover unit (14) with a changeover switch (15-18) per subscriber in that group and a switch (28) operated by the subscriber and serving as a remote means of operating its changeover switch. Each changeover switch connects the receiver to 1 to m programme lines (10) or to m+1 to n programme lines (11).
